Who am I?
Hello, and thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. I am Christopher Glass (41) born 5th September 1975 In London. I now live in lovely Lincolnshire with my wife, Anita, and 3 sons, Conran (18), Ferguson (16) and Jared (14). Yes, life is full, but seriously good fun! I have the perfect balance – live in the country and work in London. Once a Londoner always a Londoner!
My Father owned a joinery company and from my earliest years I was working with wood. Upon leaving college I immediately started cabinet making but continued to study interior and furniture design. I caught the attention of some of the leading London fit out contractors which lead to bespoke boardroom furniture commissions for the likes of AT&T, Pearl Assurance and Channel 5 Television etc. They were crazy years, working 24×7, grabbing a few hours sleep in the workshop wrapped in bubble wrap, so as to meet the deadlines! I remained a partner in the family business until 2005 when I formed Receptek Ltd.
Workagile is a brand of Receptek Ltd. (www.receptek.co.uk) Receptek has been designing and manufacturing reception desks and specialist bespoke architectural joinery since 2005.
A couple of our most recent projects:
- Oak clad staircase – Liverpool University
- Bespoke Reception desk – Queen Mary University of London
I am passionate about design. This is the driving force behind our ability to deliver a product so close to the original design intent. We are fearlessly passionate about the detail, and that is what makes the difference.
I spend time with the staff on the shop floor whenever possible and just occasionally they even let me do some hands-on work myself! I can’t resist the smell of timber planning’s!
In June 2015 I made the decision to turn some of what we had been doing on projects into Products. At the same time the workplace market was calling for a new style of furniture. Technology has driven a new way of working and the culture of the new workplace has given our creativity new fuel. You could call this the ‘perfect storm’ and we are proud to present to the world the result – Workagile.
Just the start:
We have so many more ideas on the brew! But….we want to hear about your ideas too!
So, let’s work together and set sail on this journey, this Workagile journey.
